লালমনিরহাটে আমন ধানের ক্ষতিকর পোকা শনাক্তে আলোক ফাঁদ

আমন ধানের খেতে ক্ষতিকর ও উপকারী পোকা শনাক্ত করে প্রয়োজন অনুযায়ী বালাই ব্যবস্থাপনার পরামর্শ দিতে লালমনিরহাট সদর উপজেলায় আলোক ফাঁদ স্থাপন করছে কৃষি বিভাগ। উপজেলার ৯টি ইউনিয়ন ও একটি পৌরসভার বিভিন্ন ব্লকে মাঠপর্যায়ের উপসহকারী কৃষি কর্মকর্তারা এ কার্যক্রম চালাচ্ছেন।
কৃষি বিভাগ জানিয়েছে, পোকার উপস্থিতি যাচাই না করে অনেক কৃষক ধানের খেতে কীটনাশক প্রয়োগ করেন। এতে উৎপাদন খরচ বাড়ার পাশাপাশি উপকারী পোকাও মারা যেতে পারে। আলোক ফাঁদে আকৃষ্ট পোকা শনাক্তের পর কর্মকর্তারা জমির অবস্থা পর্যবেক্ষণ করে কৃষকদের পরামর্শ দিচ্ছেন।
সোমবার সন্ধ্যায় সদর উপজেলার গোকুন্ডা ইউনিয়নের গুড়িয়াদহ ব্লকে আলোক ফাঁদ কার্যক্রম পরিদর্শন করেন জেলা কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তরের কর্মকর্তারা। সেখানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জেলা প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মকর্তা মো. রোস্তম আলী, অতিরিক্ত উপপরিচালক গোলাম মোস্তফা, মো. জোবাইদুর রহমান, শস্যবিষয়ক উপপরিচালক মো. মতিউল আলম, সদর উপজেলা কৃষি কর্মকর্তা খন্দকার সোহায়েল আহমেদ ও উপসহকারী কৃষি কর্মকর্তা নারায়ণ চন্দ্র রায়। মন্ডলের হাট এলাকার কৃষকেরাও এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
কৃষি বিভাগের দেওয়া তথ্য অনুযায়ী, এ মৌসুমে লালমনিরহাট সদর উপজেলায় হাইব্রিড, উচ্চফলনশীলসহ বিভিন্ন জাতের আমন ধান আবাদ হয়েছে ১৫ হাজার ৮০৫ হেক্টর জমিতে।
পরিদর্শনকালে জেলা প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মকর্তা মো. রোস্তম আলী কৃষকদের বলেন, প্রয়োজন ছাড়াই অতিরিক্ত কীটনাশক প্রয়োগ করলে ক্ষতিকর পোকার সঙ্গে ফসলের উপকারী পোকাও মারা যায়। তাই আগে পোকা শনাক্ত করতে হবে, এরপর জমির পরিস্থিতি অনুযায়ী ব্যবস্থা নিতে হবে। তিনি উপস্থিত কৃষকদের বিভিন্ন ক্ষতিকর ও উপকারী পোকা চিনিয়েও দেন।
সদর উপজেলা কৃষি কর্মকর্তা খন্দকার সোহায়েল আহমেদ বলেন, “আমরা প্রতি সপ্তাহে উপজেলার বিভিন্ন ব্লকে একযোগে আলোক ফাঁদ স্থাপন করি। পোকামাকড় ও রোগ সম্পর্কে কৃষকদের আগাম ধারণা দেওয়ার পাশাপাশি প্রয়োজনীয় পরামর্শ দিই।” সদর উপজেলার আমন ধানের মাঠের বর্তমান অবস্থা ভালো বলেও জানান তিনি।
আলোক ফাঁদে পোকা ধরা পড়লেই কীটনাশক ছিটানোর সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া যায় না। আন্তর্জাতিক ধান গবেষণা ইনস্টিটিউটের (IRRI) নির্দেশনা অনুযায়ী, আলোক ফাঁদে উল্লেখযোগ্যসংখ্যক বাদামি গাছফড়িং ধরা পড়লে সেটি জমি পরীক্ষা করার সংকেত। মাঠে পোকার সংখ্যা, গাছের ক্ষতির লক্ষণ ও উপকারী পোকার উপস্থিতি মিলিয়ে পরবর্তী ব্যবস্থা ঠিক করতে হয়। IRRI আরও জানায়, অনিয়ন্ত্রিত কীটনাশক প্রয়োগে পোকার প্রাকৃতিক শত্রু কমে যেতে পারে।
কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তরের উদ্ভিদ সংরক্ষণ কার্যক্রমেও মাঠপর্যায়ে রোগবালাই পর্যবেক্ষণ, কৃষকদের আগাম সতর্ক করা এবং সমন্বিত বালাই ব্যবস্থাপনার ওপর গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে। লালমনিরহাটের এ উদ্যোগে কৃষকেরা সেই পরামর্শ কতটা কাজে লাগাতে পারছেন এবং কীটনাশকের ব্যবহার বা খরচ কতটা কমছে, তা জানতে মৌসুম শেষে মাঠপর্যায়ের হিসাব প্রয়োজন।
Light Traps Set Up to Identify Harmful Insects in Aman Rice Fields in Lalmonirhat

The Department of Agricultural Extension is setting up light traps in Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila to identify harmful and beneficial insects in Aman rice fields and advise farmers on pest management. Sub-assistant agriculture officers are carrying out the programme in blocks across the upazila’s nine unions and one municipality.
According to the agriculture department, some farmers apply insecticides without first checking whether harmful insects are present. This can raise production costs and kill beneficial insects. Officers are identifying insects attracted to the light traps, inspecting the fields and advising farmers based on what they find.
On Monday evening, district agriculture officials visited a light-trap demonstration in the Guriadah block of Gokunda Union. Those present included District Training Officer Md. Rostom Ali; Additional Deputy Director Golam Mostafa; Md. Zobaidur Rahman; Deputy Director for Crops Md. Matiul Alam; Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Khandaker Sohaiel Ahmed; and Sub-assistant Agriculture Officer Narayan Chandra Roy. Farmers from the Mondoler Hat area also attended.
According to figures provided by the agriculture department, Aman rice, including hybrid and high-yielding varieties, has been cultivated on 15,805 hectares in Lalmonirhat Sadar Upazila this season.
Speaking to farmers at the demonstration, Rostom Ali said that excessive insecticide use can kill beneficial insects along with harmful ones. Farmers should first identify the insects and assess conditions in their fields before taking action, he said. He also showed them how to distinguish several harmful insects from beneficial ones.
“We set up light traps simultaneously in different blocks of the upazila every week,” said Sohaiel Ahmed. “We give farmers the advice they need and inform them in advance about insects and crop diseases.” He added that the condition of Aman rice fields in the upazila was currently good.
Finding insects in a light trap does not, by itself, mean that insecticide should be applied. According to the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), a large number of brown planthoppers in a light trap is a signal to inspect the field. The number of insects on the plants, signs of crop damage and the presence of beneficial insects should all inform the next step. IRRI also notes that indiscriminate insecticide use can reduce the natural enemies of rice pests.
The Department of Agricultural Extension’s plant protection work likewise emphasises field monitoring, early warnings for farmers and integrated pest management. Figures collected at the end of the season would help show how farmers used the advice in Lalmonirhat and whether it reduced insecticide use or production costs.
